The first question you are probably asking is, “What is an mBook?”

An mBook™ is the eBook product I’ve developed that combines reading content with multimedia. I first exhibited these almost a decade ago at the Chicago Book Expo America. The response was very enthusiastic; attendees were intrigued by the computer-based books which had theme music, full color, navigational links and even video. Even so, the consensus was that no one would ever read a book on the computer. If you couldn’t take it in the bathtub, it wouldn’t sell. Sound and music. The mBook™ brings the depth of audio to your reading experience. Consider the romance book that opens with sweeping theme music, repeated in tiny wisps with the advent of each new chapter. Hear the voices of the characters in the time-treasured children’s storybook. Teach your readers the sound of birds by including their songs. How about introducing your company and welcoming new customers – all in your own voice as an embedded audio file? Teach your class how to say “good morning” in twenty different languages. You are only limited by your own imagination.

Interactive Links. This is a wonderful feature that has limitless application. With a full complement of buttons and image maps, hyperlinks and intra-document links, the mBook™ is a blank canvas.

Forms. mBooks™ can contain calculating forms that could collect information for your company or product promotion, compute simple formulas that your reader may wish to calculate, or provide a teaching tool to augment your book concept and focus.

Video. Imagine opening your book and on page 3, the author pops up in full video to talk about the book. Perhaps you would like to include tutorials on your topic of choice, all in clear video. The video content can be embedded in the mBook™ for off-Internet viewing, or it can stream in from your web server. This is an excellent way of dialing in to television-like advertising, providing a revenue stream from your mBook™.

Typography. Since mBooks™ are created as professionally-formatted books using Adobe InDesign®, the pages are clean, can utilize any of hundreds of type fonts, fixed design with the art of white space and are indexed with a table of contents when desired. Pages are kerned, vertically justified, can feature full bleeds and breathtaking photography. What is more, the file can be re-purposed for printing as a paper book, giving you yet another product from your creative work.
